Hi! I’m Vincenzo AcquAria Castellana

and this is my story ( so far!)…

I was 5 years old, when I had my first encounter with the Tamburello – the Sicilian Frame Drum whose origins are lost in antiquity – and it soon became my constant companion in all the adventures of my life, from my childhood to the present. I spent most of my teenage years traveling throughout Europe as I constantly performed in music and dance festivals. During these travels I met fascinating people and learned their traditions. I shared with them the intriguing stories and traditions of my beloved Sicily, the land of my origins. Over the years, I have researched the traditions various ethnic groups and the means of my research was the percussive instruments particular to these groups.  I’ve had the good fortune of collaborating as percussionist and multi-instrumentalist with fame artists in the realms of music, theater and film, such as Maestro Ennio Morricone. These collaborations nurtured my artistic spirit and gave me considerable experience of  different cultures and folk traditions, an experience which expresses itself as a beautiful and eclectic mix of musical and theatrical performances. Music, art and tradition as a free exchange and universal language.
